Member for Corangamite Libby Coker today opened the Year 9 Centre at Saint Ignatius College Geelong which will improve student educational outcomes.

Ms Coker said work on the development project was delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $2,100,000 through the Capital Grants Program.

“A lot of work has gone into this project which has delivered the construction of general-purpose learning areas and associated works,” Ms Coker said.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers, and students at Saint Ignatius College Geelong with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in Saint Ignatius College Geelong, Drysdale, get the best possible education.”

Ms Coker said the new facilities would benefit the students currently at Saint Ignatius College Geelong, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

“The teachers, staff and students at Saint Ignatius College Geelong have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Ms Coker said.

“Our Albanese Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.”
