More than 50 people attended today’s Climate Forum at Waurn Ponds Estate led by the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, the Hon. Chris Bowen MP, and the local federal member for Corangamite, Libby Coker MP.

Local business leaders in sustainable manufacturing and renewable energy, and climate advocacy groups attended the forum where questions were fielded to the Minister and Ms Coker on community batteries, electric vehicle initiatives, and safeguard mechanism reform.

“Our region is made up of leaders in renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing, and groups advocating for stronger government protection of our environment,” Ms Coker said.

“I know many of these businesses and advocacy groups, across our region, have been keen to hear more about our climate change and energy initiatives – it was a great pleasure to have Chris here today to address their questions.”

Attending the forum was the Mayor of the Borough of Queenscliffe, Isabelle Tolhurst, Councillor Jim Mason from the City of Greater Geelong, and representatives from Geelong Port, Austeng, Barwon Water, Carbon Revolution, the Corangamite Climate Alliance, Surfing Victoria, Australian Parents for Climate Action, Geelong Sustainability and Viva Energy, among many others.
